Guns for Habitat
The Guns for Habitat program was initiated in the fall of 1998 to give the people of Saskatchewan an option for getting rid of their firearms and benefiting wildlife in the process.
Individuals can donate their unwanted firearms to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation. The firearms are sold through public auctions and/or fundraising events with the proceeds being donated to the SWF's wildlife habitat programs. An official receipt is issued to the donor upon sale of the firearm. If the firearm cannot be sold, and the donor agrees, it will be given to Saskatchewan Association of Firearms Education (SAFE) for instructional purposes. The SWF does not accept handguns or prohibited firearms.
Anyone wishing to participate in this program should contact the SWF Central Office at (306) 692-8812 or E-mail us at sask.wildlife@sasktel.net
The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation is not encouraging the disposal of firearms or the elimination of hunting/shooting sports. We are encouraging those that feel they want to dispose of their firearms to put a little back into the wildlife resource for future generations.
