Arctic Fox
The little Arctic Fox is not well known in Saskatchewan, and has only been found in the extreme north-east corner of the province in the winter.

Few if any breed there in summer months. Most are probably wanderers from the north that come south during harsh winters, and are probably young animals, not adults.

They are the only member of the dog family that changes colour with the seasons, becoming white all over with a thick winter coat. In summer, they are darker, brown above and yellowish below, and look much skinnier because of their shorter fur.

Their short legs and small ears help to conserve heat loss in the cool northern summers and very cold winters.
