Bobcat
The smallest of our three cat species, the Bobcat is most common in the southern part of Saskatchewan. Its range has increased as the prairie has been altered by human activities.

Trees have spread into areas where there was once only grass, mainly because prairie fires no longer burn them back. The Bobcat has adapted well to the new landscape of aspen bluffs, wooded valleys, and farmland.

Bobcats are good climbers, and hunt a wide variety of prey, including smaller mammals, hares, and birds. Throughout the year, they are mostly secretive, and unseen…but they are there!
