Grey Wolf
The Grey Wolf once ranged over the entire province.

There was even a distinct form living on the prairie, the "Buffalo Wolf", which is now extinct. Wolves are now found in northern forested areas, and are most common where there are the fewest people.

Wolves are likely the most intelligent of our mammal species, and have a complex social life. They are both admired and feared, superb predators that survive quite well in the wild.
