Lynx
The Lynx is a forest cat of the mixed-woods and coniferous forest. Unlike the Bobcat, it does not prosper when people are around, for in the north the result of humans moving in is usually the removal of forest, and pressure from trapping.

As secretive as its smaller cousin, you are not likely to ever see a Lynx, even in the wildest forest. A skilled hunter, the Lynx preys on many animals and birds, but is tied to one animal in particular.

The Snowshoe Hare is its favourite prey, but the hare goes through a regular cycle of abundance and disappearance about every nine years. As the hares' numbers rise and fall, so do the Lynx's. At the low end of the cycle, especially in winter, Lynx often wander far afield in search of prey, many perishing from starvation.
