Red Fox
Red Foxes are common in prairie, farmland, and forests.  They are most active at night, but also hunt by day.  They prey mainly on small rodents, especially mice and voles.  Red Foxes also hunt larger animals, including ground squirrels, rabbits, and hares.  They will take birds and rob their nests, also other small animals, insects, and even fruits and berries.

In winter, foxes can detect small mammals under the snow with their keen hearing, and will catch  them by pouncing, front feet together.  Their main enemy in most areas is the larger Coyote.  Where there are many Coyotes, there are few Red Foxes.
