Mule Deer
You can easily learn how to tell the difference between Mule Deer and White-tailed Deer.

Named for their large gray ears, Mule deer are bigger than White-tale. They also have a black tip on their tail and a round, white rump patch. They bounce off all four legs when they are running away, but are curious and will often stop and look back.

The male has antlers which start on a main beam, then fork into a pair. Each of these forks will fork again as the buck gets older and its antlers get larger. Mule deer like to graze on grass and alfalfa. Alfalfa grows in many of the ditches on Saskatchewan roads.

When you're in a car at night you should watch carefully for deer which might step out onto the road after feeding in the ditch.
