Least Weasel
The Least Weasel is the smallest true carnivore in North America.  Although it is scarcely larger than the mice it feeds on, the Least Weasel is feisty for it’s size.

Being small, extremely fast and nimble, this weasel can chase its prey relentlessly into any nook or cranny that they try to hide in.

Least Weasels den in the abandoned burrows of other animals such as pocket gophers and ground squirrels. Their chief predators include foxes, cats and owls.  Like the Short and Long-tailed Weasels, Least Weasels change their coat from brown to white in winter.

Fortunately for them, their small size has probably spared them from trappers.
