Long-tailed Weasel
Long-tailed Weasels are natural born killers. They will eat just about anything that crosses their path, including animals as large as hares and rabbits.

Being very fast and slender, they seem to flow over rocks and logs as they relentlessly pursue their prey. The scent of blood is believed to send the long-tailed weasel into a killing spree, killing animals even after they are too full to eat any more!

They den in the burrows of other animals such as pocket gophers and ground squirrels. Like skunks, they are capable of emitting a pungent odour when alarmed or annoyed. This scent is primarily used to communicate to other weasels but it is also used for defence.

Like the Short-tailed and Least Weasels, their coats turn white in the winter. Predators of the Long-tailed Weasel include hawks, owls, cats and foxes.
