Mink
Probably best known for their valuable fur, mink are semi-aquatic species of weasel.

They are excellent swimmers and are most often associated with water bodies such as ponds, streams and rivers. Their favourite food is usually muskrat but like other weasels, mink are opportunists and will hunt and kill just about anything.

They usually den in old muskrat burrows or beaver dens.

Mink are ferocious defenders of their territories, and will defend themselves by producing an odour that is at least as strong as a skunk's. Because of the great demand for furs, thousands of mink are trapped in Saskatchewan each year.
